5-Inch CD-R Collection

5 Inch CD-R Collection

CD-R's are the most popular media for burning CD's full of illegally downloaded MP3's or bootlegged files. Or, for the legit people, its full of purchased music, pictures, home videos, or any type of data you wish to store. So why not make your CD-R's look interesting? Hasn't the old Sony logo started to bore you? I know it has, so you might as well spend the next ten minutes reading this review.

For this review, I have been sent about twenty printed CD-R's from their 2004 collection.  I have picked out what I feel are the coolest ten to write about. Each one can hold 80 minutes of music or 700 MB of files. Each CD has a different design, and each can set a different tone for whatever data you hold on them. The next few paragraphs will talk about some of the specific CD-R's I received and their designs.

DJ- This CD-R contains an image of a DJ scratching a record on a turnstile. This is a perfect candidate for making a music CD or even a demo of your latest rip. There is a white caption box where you can write an album title or artist info.

Apocalypse- This is one of my favorite CD-R's from the collection. A dark green background allows for the printed white animals to show. If you look closely at the disc, you will notice sharks, rats, tanks, airplanes, and at the top, a dove. The closer you look, the more detail you will notice around the inner rim of the disc. The red outline of the rim makes it look even cooler.

Crowd- The Crowd CD-R may seem a bit busy at first, but on second glance, you will be able to take in all of its detail. I'm not quite sure if any of the people in the picture have any actual identity (like a celebrity) but it still looks cool. Especially since each person is different and is wearing different clothes.

Hello- Even though it is plain, it is still awesome. The hello CD looks like a “hello my name is” tag that you put on your shirt when going to a meeting. The large white space in the center gives you ample room to write song tracks, artists, album title, and any other info you would like.

LP- Just as the name infers, this CD-R looks just like an LP. If you are looking at it from the right angle, you will see the white circles around the outside gleam and the angled reflections around the rim.

5 Inch CD-R Collection

The rim is blue, which looks very cool being that the rest of the CD is black. The white record arm is also a neat touch.

Horoscope- Are you into astrology? Well, I am not, but this CD-R still gets my attention! The entire disc is black, and has different constellations in silver labeled with their stars. You will see Cancer, Gemini, Orion, Libra, Leo, and many more. I'm not sure what type of data you would put on here… maybe pictures of your last trip to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum.

Equalizer- This CD will catch anybody's attention. The bottom half is a shiny gold color that has different shades of orange bars. At first glance, you may not understand what it is, but if you take a closer look, you will notice that the bars form the effect of an equalizer. When under light, the gold shines, and the disc looks really cool. The top half is white with silver lines dividing it where you can write notes. This CD-R may look simple, but it is one of my favorites from the collection.
