Another feature exclusive to the advanced game is the use of friend tiles after they have been won over. If you have won a friend tile during the advanced game, there are several options as to how you can use it. If you happen to choose the Palantír from your friends, you can avoid imprisonment and give up a friend tile. If you land on the dark segment while spinning, you can give up a friend tile to try and spin again. The other option is to give up a friend tile in order to roll the die a second time and move again.
When you finally reach Sauron, you will battle with him using the spinner, just as you have done for the whole game. Once you get rid of all his cubes, you are the winner.
The setup of the game is simple compared to the other sets of Eagle Games. The only things you will actually have to assemble are the dark castles and the spinner. Surprisingly easy, eh?
The rest of the game pieces include your wooden hobbit pieces, hobbit cards, enemy tiles, dice, and your different tiles. Perhaps the fact that you don't have to cut out tons of tiny plastic pieces makes this game a lot easier to handle than other Eagle Games.
Gameplay is significantly easier then most Eagle Games. Because of this, it is an ideal game for any casual LOTR junkie. Kids that like the movies will need a parent to explain the game to them, and maybe even need the parent to play a few games with them at first. Otherwise, this game was an easy to play and set up experience. If you are a die-hard LOTR fan, pick up this game for a jolly good time.
