RoadWired Podzilla

RoadWired Podzilla

Yes, it may sound like an old B movie, but really, it's not. Podzilla is actually a very expandable pouch that can be used to carry around all of your digital gadgets.

RoadWired incorporated a design for this bag that I haven't seen before. Instead of making endless pocket upon pocket, RoadWired has created ‘wings' on the sides, so you actually have pockets unfold when you unzip the bag. The three wings each serve a different purpose. All three wings have something different along their walls. The front wall has a convenient rack for pens and pencils. These little nylon hooks are not the cheap kind; once you put your pen in, it will strap on securely. Placed at the bottom of the wall are two nylon pockets. The bottoms of your pens and pencils can be pocketed in here. On the foldout portion of the front wing, there is a small mesh pocket. If you don't want to put pencils in the front pocket, you can include batteries. Since there was a lot of room in between the wall and the mesh pocket, I put in a Motorola Talk about walkie talkie.

The three wings can hold many items. The configuration I used is just one of the many options you can choose. Depending on your gadgets, you will lay out everything differently. For instance, I was able to fit a cell phone in the left wing with the IPOD. I was also comfortable with putting an iPod in the strapped elastic pocket and putting a PDA in the nylon case. The possibilities are endless, and your configuration will depend on the frequency you use an item.

Left and Right Wings

The right wing has a unique elastic band pocket. I inserted my PDA into the straps, and then tucked it into the nylon pocket at the bottom (similar to the nylon pocket on the front wing). The PDA was held firmly in place, and the soft straps didn't dig into the side of the PDA or damage the screen. This wing also contains a big nylon pocket on the foldout part. In here, I inserted a digital ELPH camera. It fit perfectly, and once again, was secured.

The left wing expands on the nylon pocket idea, and puts four along the wall. These pockets can be used for storing coins or smaller objects, but I used them for plug adapters for my Targus car charger. The foldout portion of this wing has a nylon pocket just like the right wing. In this pocket, I put in an IPOD, which fit perfectly.

The Pockets of the RoadWired Podzilla

The main pocket of Podzilla is very padded and protected. It isn't that big, but it is the whole center of the bag. In this pocket, I was able to fit in a Sony Handycam, and it looked as if it was built for it. On top of the video camera, I put in a wallet, which also fit in perfectly. There was still more room on the top, but honestly, I didn't have anything else to put in! On the roof of the main compartment, there is a slot for a credit card, but I put a mini DV tape. For emergencies, there is a secret pocket where you can hide money, a key, or anything else you might need.

All of the pockets provide good protection and support for your devices, so you shouldn't be worried about breaking anything while active. There is a shoulder strap included, which I found to be very nice. It is comfortable when sitting on your shoulder for long periods of time, and can be detached if you prefer. You can also carry Podzilla on your waist, using the back panel. There are dual height loops that will allow Podzilla to be stringed through a waist pack or even through your own belt. It is beyond me how you'd get this thing attached to your waist, but... different

The Nylon Material

Podzilla is made out of a weird nylon material. I say weird because it feels a little strange, but it is greatly protected from the rain. It turns out that the front part of the bag is made out of a material called neoprene, which is the same material used to make water scuba diving suits. Talk about water protection!

Overall

Through all my testing of Podzilla, I have found that the bag can hold tons of things and keep each one protected and secure. Because of this, I feel that Podzilla is a must buy for a person who owns a lot of gadgets and needs to carry them around. If it can hold all of my stuff, I guarantee you that it will be able to hold yours.
