Tapwave Zodiac -page 3-

Tapwave Zodiac

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4-- Here's another one you have probably heard of. At first, it's hard to get used to the controls because the left and right trigger buttons are hard to operate. Once mastered, you can pull off tricks just like in the PC/console games, and skate at all of your favorite maps. It's hard to figure out where things are; your perception of depth is skewed. You will think that a rail is a lamppost, and you wonder why you keep hitting it. You need to be able to really get used to the maps in order to play successfully. All game modes are available, including career, so you can complete all of your favorite challenges. You can also host or join multiplayer games, which can be a lot of fun. Graphics look great, but sound is muffled. Overall, the controls are quirky and it's hard to get used to the depth; but if you play enough, you will and have a great time doing it.

Duke Nukem-- Duke Nukem is filled with great sound and graphics. And not only that, its easy to play, and the controls work out great. Maps and enemies are both nicely detailed, even on a small screen. Most important are the graphics; guns look stunning and even when you are close up to enemies, their graphic beauty shines. Force feedback is amazing when you get hit with a shotgun. Overall this is a great game, and a true asset to the Zodiac.

Bubbles 2-- I'm sure you have never heard of this game, but that is no reason to not play it. The objective is to knock away all the bubbles from the screen. The game is very colorful, and has great graphics and sound effects. Even though it is a simple game, it's highly addictive. Here is a prime example of a good puzzle game for the Zodiac.

Doom 2-- I was a little disappointed with Doom 2. The graphics are of considerably less quality then the other Zodiac titles, as you can actually see polygons. The controls are hard to get used to, which really sucked in the beginning. If you are really into Doom you might like it, but past that, it's nothing close to stellar.

Tapwave Zodiac

FireHammer-- FireHammer is a perfect example of a game that takes advantage of the Zodiac's ability to rotate the screen and use it lengthwise. FireHammer is easy to play and quite simple; you are a ship and must fire your weapons to kill enemies. This is the type of game you can play for a few quick minutes while waiting in line, as it is not very involving. Graphics are average, but they don't really take away from the fun you will have playing.

After reading those game descriptions, I hope you can get a general idea about what gaming is like on the Tapwave: fun. It's really a cool thing to try, especially if you think you have enough free time for it.

Overall

The Tapwave Zodiac is an amazing product. It incorporates music, photos, videos, games, and organization all into one small package. The battery lasts a long time, it has got wireless Bluetooth, and even two SD slots for expandability. If you have the money, the Zodiac is a great device to invest in.
