Aliens vs Predators 2
Have you ever been scared? No, I mean really scared. Worse than nightmares… just a feeling that every moment of your existence will cause you terror in some form or another. Well, I know it might sound wimpy, but playing Aliens vs Predator 2 really made me feel this way...
It was like 10 o clock on a Sunday night and I definitely should have been sleeping. Instead, of course, I was busy playing on the computer. Well, I had been on for about an hour when I had this great idea to start playing Aliens Vs Predator 2. I popped the CD into my drive, and two hours later horribly regretted it.
The Terror that is Aliens vs Predators 2
I wish there was some way I could explain to you how scary as hell it is to get face to face (or face to polygon) with one of these things. When you least expect it, a creature jumps out on you, and starts tearing you to pieces. What are you, the faithful Colonial Marine left with? Well, nothing but a little shot gun. How do you defend yourself? You tell me, because I have no idea. During the first mission, about 12, no I am not kidding, 12 aliens jumped out on me, and I was armed with some lousy shotgun. I had to use a cheat to get out of that mess...
Gory Details
There are many gross details in AvP2. Human carcasses hanging from walls with puddles of blood dripping down and skulls lined across rooms are commonplace scenes in the game. The one mission I played scared me because of the horrific death of my co-worker. She went into an alien cave, and got stuck to the wall by alien slime. She begged me to shoot her once I found her because she was in so much pain. Than, right in front of my eyes, she died a horrific death with blood erupting from her body. Before I could realize how completely sick that was, three or four aliens jumped me from behind, and started gnawing my ass off. The aliens look like deformed Venoms from Spiderman, with thick claws and razor blades.

When you are in the dark and you all of a sudden just hear shrieking of aliens, it is really pretty disturbing. Suspense in this game is crazy. When you are walking down a corridor expecting something to happen your muscles are tense. Nothing may come out, but you are living in fear for the whole game.
Graphics and Sound
The graphics in the game are terrific. Every aspect of the worlds, guns and alien teeth are created to perfection. This makes the game even scarier, and gives you a sense that you are actually in the game. The sound is also great. All the voices of characters really put a feel into the game. The shrieks, cries and moans of dying people is very convincing.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer of AvP2 can also scare the hell out of your friends. With one or two people, its not that bad because you are all kind of together trying to find each other in a huge map. But if you play it with a lot of people, you can really start to get freaked out. At any given moment, your friend the predator can lurch out at you, and claim your skull. Its some scary stuff this game, no kidding.
Overall
Aliens vs Predators 2 is a crazy game. Crazy in the sense that it is very disturbing, and is able to keep you at the edge of your chair for the entire game. This game is not for the light of heart. For some late night fun and terror, pick up AvP2... but make sure to leave the hallway light on before you go to bed.
