Curse: The Eye of Isis

Graphics

One thing that didn't tick me off about Curse was the graphics. At first, I didn't think they would be very good. Boy, was I wrong. Graphics are the one thing Curse really has going for itself. There are tons of cinematics showing diseased bodies fly up spewing cursed fumes all over them, etc. Characters are very detailed; there are different facial expressions and even the different parts of the museum start to have a variety to them. Killing zombies has never looked this good.

Simple Controls Make Easy and Boring Gameplay

As I outlined earlier, controls are very simple. This makes gameplay easy, but unfortunately boring. I mean think about it, if all you are doing is moving with the arrow keys and clicking, you might get a tad bit bored. Whenever you acquire a weapon, you can equip it using your inventory menu, and then even target specific body parts of an enemy to attack. Your right click functions as a defensive move, bringing your hands up in defense. Inventory items like lanterns can be held up upon right click as well. You will be moving and moving until you come across enemies, which you will have to encounter the right way or you will be toast. Defend yourself, strike, repeat. That is why Curse can get boring. If all you are doing the whole time is moving, it's not that exciting. You will get the thrill of fighting tons of possessed enemies, but it's not enough to make Curse fun enough to keep playing. And plus, with the utterly genius idea of making saving only possible through Abdul, it's harder to keep playing without constantly stopping.

What can we expect? No Multiplayer

Like most adventure games, there is no multiplayer. I don't know what to tell you in this department, I don't even see how the logistics of multiplayer would work out…

Overall

For the most part, Curse was a decent game. It had its thrills, good graphics, and even a halfway decent story. The only problem is the horrible saving feature and the fact that the game gets just plain boring. Too bad for an awesome adventure game…
