Desert Rats vs Afrika Korps -page 3-
Single Player Mode
Single player mode is awesome… it's just a bit too short. You can beat story mode in a day if you are up to it. It would be much better if you could spend more hours working on the game. On top of that, there is no skirmish mode. Can't get everything you would like in life…
Graphics
I shudder at the thought of graphics. An amazing full 3D environment topped with tons of detail, shadows, and lighting effects… it's stunning. Of course, you will need a decent system to run the game looking its best. But really, it is a sight to see. You can sit in your chair staring at the screen of just the pure detail and shadowing effects put into all of the shrubbery and troops. Just check the screens if you don't believe me.
Game AI
AI is top notch. For both your wandering units and enemy units, you will see that both really know what they are doing.
In the move freely mode, your troops really know how to take care of themselves. They will shoot when shot at, run away if faced by too many enemies, and try to hide behind buildings or other objects for cover. Enemy units will act accordingly, and fire at your units when fired upon. Enemies will constantly send out scouts to check what your army is doing and if you look puny, you will soon find yourself in a heated assault from your enemy.
Multiplayer!
If single player wasn't enough, there is a top-notch multiplayer mode included in DR vs AK. You can play with up to four friends in capture the flag, Deathmatch, or a mode called Tobruk-To-El-Alamein. In this last mode, you and your opponents will have to fight for your own bases. The object of one player is to attack and destroy the other's village; however, after awhile, the defender will receive reinforcements. If you have any friends, this can be a very entertaining experience. Definitely a top pick for any LAN party!
Overall
After reading this review, I am sure you are all going to go out and buy DR vs AK. Good… I would like to see more people in the online community. But seriously, this game is filled with mission variety, awesome graphics, great multiplayer, smart AI, and tons of other great assets. DR vs AK is a real find… go out and buy it!
