Freedom Force
Our friends over at Irrational Games have brought us one game that should be in every household in America. The first of its kind, a tactical superhero RPG, Freedom Force combines nice graphics and amazing environments to create the ultimate superhero-related game. Before we go any further in this kick ass review, I would just like to make fun of one game that I felt was too bad to write a lengthy review on.
Hero X!
Hero X, the other super-hero related game available for the PC is a total piece of worthless krap. Irrational Games should be gloating how their one and only Freedom Force stays the most cool and amazing superhero RPG yet. Infogrames has tried to copy this, but have failed so incredibly, its not even funny. Point is, buy Freedom Force and not 'Hero X'. If you happen to buy Hero X, I will come to your house and slap you.
Customize Your Characters
Though Freedom Force is only a small install of 585 meg (in a complete setup option), the game includes tons of customizable data that you can change for your characters. You can create your own characters, than recruit them to your Freedom Force team.
You need to gain prestige, received when you do certain objectives in missions, in order to recruit your heroes. Once you have enough, you can have your heros join your superhero crime fighting team. You can choose from 'built-in' characters in the game than choose what their attacks and strengths. The stronger your attacks, the more prestige your characters cost. I must congratulate the MOD community on their efforts to making Freedom Force editors and skins. They have done a great job, and a Freedom Force character editor is available for download in which you can create your own characters completely from scratch. This is not a fun process, but once you get it to work, you can get a superhero version of yourself inside the game.
Different Areas
Freedom Force has some pretty sick map environments. Even the first level is pretty complex, with an urban and park area. The Metropolis area is a lot of fun, and other environments incorporate different building styles and background elements. The settings range from lairs to snow storms, and all provide you with different experiences.
Awesome Detail and Videos
Freedom Force is filled with tons of stuff to do, and this makes the game a lot of fun, and gives it an interesting edge.
All the cut scenes that are played in between levels are vibrant and fun, and are really cool to watch. Each character that you start to use throughout the game comes with a video about their origin and each one is different. This is also really cool.
Overall
Freedom Force also has some pretty cool multiplayer. This is not fun when you play on a little LAN network with 2 players, but can get pretty cool with a lot of people.
Overall, Freedom Force is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it!
