Midnight Club II

Midnight Club II

Midnight Club II is a game that is based on the future of the world of underground street racing. It is a game that takes you through exciting cities like Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Paris. In those 3 cities you will be challenged by many racers for respect and ownership slips. If you win 2 or 3 races, you will win your opponent's car and move on to more advanced challenges. The beginning races are hard because you will be up against much better cars than what you have, but your time will come!

The 'Midnight Club' and Motorcycles

The game centers around a club called ‘The Midnight Club.' In this club, racers from all over the world come to challenge each other to race. The new thing that the Midnight Club allows is motorcycles. In the first game you were not allowed to be in the Midnight Club if you raced a motorcycle. This was really a cool thing to include, because motorcycles are damn fun to race.

Using Nos is Sweet

One of the coolest parts of Midnight Club is the use of Nos. Nos is a certain gas that almost doubles your car's horsepower in seconds. There are only certain cars that have this function. When you press the nitrous button, your car goes to its top speed in a short amount of time and it also brings out light blue fumes from your exhaust that look pretty cool. If you have a Logitech Momo steering wheel, get ready to feel like you are really in one of these fantasy cars. You can map the red button on the wheel to be your 'Nos' button. Also, force feedback works great with steering wheels. Very cool. When your car reaches its top speed, the world around you turns into whirling glimpses of colors.

Battle Mode

The game has many different features in the battle mode. You can pick up items by driving on them, and then you can use the special powers they hold. One of the powers is called Disruptor. This is a distraction for the opponents that make their camera view distorted. The Ice distraction makes your opponent drive as if on an icy road. Shield allows you to not become hurt by damage. There are others that are fun to play around with.

Cars are not Real but Similar to Real Ones

The cars in the game don't exist. Remember this game is based on the future of street racing. This might be a disappointment to some, but I don't mind. The cars may not be real but I think that they are very similar to other real listed cars. Some of them look like a Mazda Rx-7, Acura Integra, Honda Civic, Dodge Viper, Honda Prelude, . 996, and Porsche 911 turbo.

Detailed Cities

A positive side of the game is the detailed cities.

Midnight Club II

In Los Angeles, you can go on the freeway and get off at Hollywood and in the distance you can see the huge HOLLYWOOD sign. Also, downtown Los Angeles looks real with all of the skyscrapers. Tokyo has so many lights, it looks like it is the real city. Paris has a great highway that can really test your car's limits. Its similar to the Autobahn.

Burnouts and Drifting

The game has features like burnout and drifting. A burnout is when you have your hand on the emergency brake and you rev the engine and let go of the brake and your back tires will spin causing smoke. This trick is best worked by the motorcycles. The drift is where you're going fast into a turn and you tail slide into the turn then get control of the car again by turning the opposite way. Very cool.

Overall

Midnight Club II is a well rounded game that gives racing fans a nice experience.
