No One Lives Forever 2
No One Lives Forever. This game set the standard for almost everything in action games: level designs, animations, graphics, interactions. Everything. Then No One Lives Forever 2 came out, and for months past everybody was already waiting anxiously for it's arrival. Having to uphold No One Lives Forever's incredible gaming experience, NOLF 2 was going to have to meet high expectations in order to be honored. And damn, we are sure glad it did.
Assume the Role of Cate Once More
You are still fighting your arch enemies over at H.A.R.M, and this time their plot is worse then before. They want to create an army of ‘super-soldiers' that will be able to basically cause a lot of damage to the world. And then to add on to the fun, H.A.R.M wants to start a nuclear war between Russia and the United States. Seems like we are in a pretty big dilemma, huh? Not really. All we need is that super-savvy Cate Archer to help us out in times like this.
The Skill Point System
The game has a lot of similarities with the original, but there are some new things about the game that make It stand out. The first you will notice is the skill point system. There are 8 categories like armor, weapons, gadgets, and health that you have the ability to ‘upgrade.' By collecting important items in the game or completing objectives, you get points you can use toward your abilities. After I upgraded the bulk of my skills, I noticed a significant difference in Cate's skills.
Now You Can't See Me
There is also a new mode in which you can be hidden from all of your enemies.
A little eye icon will pop on your screen and you will be hidden from everybody. This is a great aspect that has been added that will give you some room for classic ambushes.
A compass has also been added to help you navigate through the immense maps.
New Tools and Weapons
There are some great new weapons that also make the game better. These include the katana, bear trap, shuriken (throwing spears), combat shotgun, micromissile launcher, and even the laughing gas grenade. The new gadgets also add some more fun to the game. Gadgets like the hairspray welder, nail clipper lock pick compact code breaker, multipurpose perfume, and the eavesdropping bug are awesome.
What a Wonderful World
Through playing NOLF 2, you will really feel immersed into the game. You will take Cate all over the world; to Ohio, India, Japan, Siberia, an underwater base, and even the fictional South Pacific island Khios. Through all these maps, you will find incredible detail. Everything has been drawn out to perfection. And I mean everything. There are fires outside in Siberia, posters all over the town in Japan, and everything else is filled with tons of things to look at in absolute awe.
Sharp AI
The enemy AI in the game is very sharp, and because of this, stealth is something that you must take into account. There are a lot of actions you can do in the game that will trigger your opposition to act. By turning off a light switch, you can hide, and have an enemy come into the room and inspect what's wrong.
