Planetside -page 2-
I have found myself many times on some unknown planet walking around like I own the place. Once I read my trusty manual, I learned you could hit a button called 'instant action' and be transported to wherever your empire needs you. Now that is smart thinking people!
Get Past that Beginner Suckiness
As a newbie, going into a Planetside firefight isn't that fun. Everyone is better than you. If you haven't configured your equipment properly, you downright suck. It is incredibly annoying to watch as your fellow teammates obliterate enemies and you die every single time. Once you start to get a piece of somebody, your battle rank will go up, and you will finally be able to start getting some better weaponry.
At this point in the game, I had a decent battle rank and a few decent weapons equipped. Now we will begin my journey as an intermediate player.
Using the Map
I have now learned to utilize the map to its full potential. The Planetside map can show you a continent view or a global view, and you can zoom in to manually find hotspots, or see where other members in your squad are. The map may seem confusing at first, but once you've mastered it, you will be able to go far.
Weapon Slots
Choosing favorites has now become very easy for me. Since Planetside offers a wide variety of weapons and armor, you can make favorites to store your favorite configurations of equipment.
Please Sir, May I Drive this Tank?
Even though I now have the ability to drive some awesome vehicles,
I think it is stupid that you need permissions to use vehicles. If it was a Battlefield scenario where anybody could hop into a tank, people would be able to increase their Battle Rank a lot easier.
Fighting Experiences
Fighting in Planetside is usually spontaneous. If you are not choosing instant action, somebody will probably just type in 'we need help.' You will go to their location via the HART transportation system, and boom, you are in the battle. Like I mentioned earlier, based on your equipment, fighting will either be great or terrible.
I have learned that Planetside can be an extremely boring and fun game at times. If you are starting out, you will probably have a lot of trouble and die a lot of times. Once you reach a level that your equipment becomes superior, it feels great. The only problem with that is that it takes to long to reach this plateau.
Overall
Buy Planetside just if you are interested in an MMORPG FPS. It is a new concept, but if you aren't fully interested try the demo. Otherwise, be excepting a long and rough journey to receiving perfection. I have warned you.
