The Rainbow Six series has reached its high: and I like the view from up here.
Enemy and friendly AI are overall good. Enemies have control paths they follow, and whenever they see you, they will start shooting. If they realize they are stuck, they will run away and seek for cover. There are also missions where you will find yourself getting stuck in the perfect enemy ambush. Moments like these make Raven Shield a one of a kind game.
Another cool new feature of the game is the ways to open up a door. Using your mouse scroll (default and best way), you can slowly close and open a door. This option makes the game seem so realistic because it is now possible to open the door so as you can only take a peek in and then close it carefully to examine your map and get ready for the breach. Once again, strategy freaks will go ga-ga over this extra feature.
Even though enemy AI is pretty sharp, friendly AI is a bit of a different story. Sure, when your teammates see an enemy, they will call out to you and shoot them down, but there is still the old issue where friendlies won't get out of the way when you are walking at them. This bug downgrades the whole vision of an 'intelligent' team of tactical operatives. Like I always say, nothing a simple path can't fix.
For the most part, the Raven Shield single player campaign is excellent; there are only a few bugs, but the sheer amount of detail and work put into each enemy path route makes this one of my favorite gaming experiences.
Raven Shield also features a multiplayer mode.
Here, you can play with friends or people from all over the world and join together. Missions include protecting a bomb, infiltrating a base so you can activate a bomb, neutralizing opposing forces, etc. I have found the servers to be pretty dependable, so you won't need to worry about disconnection. The Raven Shield multiplayer mode is a great way to experience all the maps of the game without playing through the single player campaign. Since there is no planning stage, the multiplayer mode is great for everybody that just wants to get into the battle.
Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield adds a whole new dimension to the Rainbow Six series. For any fan of the series or a beginner, pick it up for a guaranteed good strategy and action experience.
