The Sims
The Sims is the first PC game that allows you to control and manage your own family. Depending on the moods of your Sims, you can virtually get jobs, promotions, make children, and much, much more! This amazing idea is being based on human simulation.
Customizing a Sim
Besides, the skin color, sex, style, and health of the Sim, personalities are the main factor. The personality traits that can be adjusted are: neatness, playfulness, politeness, activeness, and outgoingness. When the Sims are neat they can clean-up after each other and do the house chores. By being playful a Sim will be able to interact with their children or play with toys. They can do a multitude of activities that are all available through the smart interface of the game. The most important category is outgoingness. The more outgoing the Sim, the more they will show their feelings about one another in the public eye. They will also do more interactions with another Sim. All of these traits will help get them the job or will they need to start a great life with the perfect spouse.
Keeping Your Sim's Moods Happy
Even though the personality traits play a huge factor of success, so does your Sim's moods. The moods consist of hygiene, social, room, bladder and hunger. When each of these are above normal the Sims have a better opportunity to get a promotion, interact with other Sims, or acquire skills faster. You have to pay attention to each of your Sim's specific needs, so managing more then one Sim at a time may be difficult for you when starting out. There are different activities you can get your Sim to do in order to make them happy. For hygiene, have them take a bath or shower. Social is just having them interact with other Sims. Room is a weird mood. Depending on the artwork you have in a given room, your Sim's room trait will go up or down. If you buy really expensive artwork, your Sims will have a lot of room. Helping their bladder is obvious: have them use the toilet. And finally to help their hunger, just give them something to eat for God's sake!
Depending on their mood, your Sims will be able to acquire skills. These skills include creativity, cooking, mechanical, and others like this. The higher skilled they are in an area, they better they will succeed in the working force.
Buy, Live, and Build Mode
There are three modes in the game: live mode, buy mode, and build mode.
In live mode, you control your Sims to do whatever you please, and then watch them do it. In buy mode, you can by objects for your home using your Sim's hard earned cash. In build mode, you can create construction elements for your Sim's house. These include fireplaces, doors, windows, wallpaper, and carpeting. When you are moving your Sim into the neighborhood, he can either occupy a pre-built house, or you can start building one from scratch. Your Sims won't have a ton of money to start out with, so it's usually best to choose a pre-made house, succeed in your job, then move or add on to your current house.
Snapshot!
All of the game modes have the ability to use a snapshot feature, which allows you to take pictures of your Sims and their house. You can add text and make a 'photo book' to upload to the Sims homepage. It is fun to do this, because you can make your Sims lives into a story, and show it to people all over the world.
No Multiplayer
One thing about the Sims that was a bit of a let down was the lack of multiplayer. There is no way to play over the internet or over a LAN network with your friends, so you will never be able to take your Sims to the outside world.
Overall
Overall, The Sims is a great experience for any serious or casual gamer. I highly recommend buying it!
