Spiderman the Movie
I'm sure you have probably seen some type of movie or TV program that was Spiderman related. With the new movie out, a PC game entitled Spiderman The Movie (very original) has come to life with mind-blowing graphics.
Flying a la Spiderman
This new game is very fun to play. The thing that makes it so fun is the awesome aerial control and the fighting maneuvers. Though the controls are a bit clunky and annoying, you can still enjoy some great flying experiences. It's awesome to fly through the air in terrific cityscape graphics.
Using Spidey Moves
One of my favorite missions is when you have to fight the Green goblin in the air. He is on his little jet bike, while you are equipped with your web sling. You battle through the air in the beautiful polygons of NYC, and you really start to get into it. When fighting thugs, it is fun to use your traditional punch and kick, but to add to the spectrum of attacks, there are special spidey moves. For instance, you can perform back handsprings, web domes, and web fists. Web domes crouch your character to the ground and form a hard web over you. Eventually, the web will explode, causing your enemies to fly back a few feet. Web fists wrap webs around your hands, and when you punch thugs, they take more damage. You also have plain webbing, which you can wrap your opponents in; this causes them to be stuck in the web for a little bit, depending on the length of time you hold the web button down. While they are in this position, you can punch and kick them. They will eventually burst out.
Mom, can we go to Toys 'R Us? I need some more webbing...
One thing I did not like was that you can run out of your webbing very easily. It is very hard to get more of it, because there are only about 1 or 2 web recharges throughout a level. In the movie, Spiderman could use one web canister for a long time, and didn't have to worry about running out! If you're comfortable with using cheats, there is one out there, but the game still should've made your web supply more handy.
Moving up the Enemy Ranks
As you advance through the single player mission, you will come across different enemy types. First, you start off with simple punch and kick thugs, but can than move onto thugs with pistols. The next step up is killing Uncle Ben's killer, who has a nice machine gun and can not stay wrapped up in a web cocoon for more than .5 seconds. Whenever you try a web dome, he runs away from you, so its effect is useless. After you meet Uncle Ben's killer, there will be a few more thugs with machine guns, but than you come to the real bad guys: Venom and the Green Goblin.
No Multiplayer?!!! It Would have RULED
Even though its fun to kill the enemy AI, I was very upset that no multiplayer was included. There is no way to fly through the city with your friends, and this really stinks.
No In-Game Saves... my FAVORITE
Another thing that really annoyed me was the fact that there are no in-game saves. When you play on a harder mode, it is very difficult to beat the mission in one shot. With no in-game saves, you have to start the entire mission over if you die. Sometimes, I would have to kill only 1 more person, but would die in the act and have to do the entire mission all over again. This can get extremely aggravating…
Clunky Controls
The controls are also a big pain to bind. There is no mouse-look, so you can't just hold down forward and move your mouse to determine your direction. Therefore, you have to use the WSAD configuration or the arrow keys, which doesn't feel right after awhile. The camera views are not the best, so you never feel like you are getting the right angle.
Overall
Overall, the graphics really pull the game through. The single player game is pretty good, with great maps, enemies and combos, but the lack of mouse look and in-game saves really destroys it. No multiplayer!!!! C'mon, give me a break!
