Age of Mythology -page 2-
Myth Units
When you choose a minor God, specific 'Myth Units' become available to you. A myth unit is basically self-explanatory: a unit from your civilizations mythical beliefs. Myth units include Medusa, Mountain Giants, Fire Giants, Anubites, Cyclops, and much more. A minor God can have more than one Myth Unit, but a minor God with one Myth Unit may be better than another with two Myth Units. Myth units add fun to the game, because instead of the traditional men with swords, you get some dinosaurs that grow heads by every kill! Some myth units include fire giants, Fenris Wolf Broods, Cyclops, Nemean Lion, Mummies, and Scorpion men. Each myth unit is different, yet all cost the favor resource.
Population Limit!
The limit to your population size is 200. Whenever you build things like myth units (or special units like heroes), they can take up more than one population place. One myth unit may take up 5 population, so if you had room for 50 population, you could only have 10 of these units, and not have any room for villagers. I found this at a great disadvantage, because doing this limits your large army possibilities.
Playing with God Powers
I have found God Powers to be a lot of fun. Whenever I am attacking a strong enemy and they have something like a hill fort or a fortress, I use the meteor power to destroy their strong buildings, therefore increasing the strength of my attacking units.
Whenever an enemy has a strong dock that is used to collect most of his food, I use my locust power to destroy it. As shown in the image, some God powers are self-beneficiary, like the "citadel power" which automatically upgrades your town center to a citadel. All of these God Powers help in a different way, and can make or break a team.
Multiplayer Madness!
The multiplayer in the games (as in all Age of Empires games) is excellent. It keeps me playing for hours on end, especially when I am playing with people I know. The enemies don't usually attack you on the easier levels, so playing a defensive game rarely occurs. This means you have more offensive gameplay, destroying your enemies any way you choose.
Overall
Overall, Age of Mythology packs some solid gameplay, great graphics, and awesome multiplayer into one, and provides something that every gamer wants. If you were a fan of the AoE series, rush to your local game store and purchase this title.
