Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

Counter-Strike is one of the most, if not the most, famous online multiplayer FPS games. You (and probably your friends) team up on either a Terrorist or a Counter Terrorist team and fight the opposing side in explosive battles in order to try and win the match. When the new Counter-Strike: Condition Zero game was released, you would have expected it to be just as big a deal as the original, right? Wrong. This new version of Counter-Strike is not what players have been waiting for… it's nothing more than a patch you need to pay for.

A Patch that Costs Money

At its best, Condition Zero is a patch to make Counter-Strike a little (note a little) more visually pleasing. Same weapons, same maps, same buying weapon interface… Not much different. What Condition Zero did add was a single player mode and a bot option to allow you to play multiplayer simulation offline and incorporate bots in your online game. Big whoop... The promise of better graphics was a blowout in my opinion. Fine, stuff looks a little better, but not by much. Textures are still old and outdated, characters still look blocky and fake, and scenery in maps don't look half as good as newer games today.

The Same Maps and Weapons

To top it all off, you will find the same exact maps in Condition Zero that you would find in the original Counter-Strike. Yea, ok, they are “updated” with their little graphical changes. Not enough to make you want to PAY for this game. Like I said earlier, Condition Zero is nothing more than a patch you need to pay for. Weapons, (did you guess right?) are the same as the original Counter-Strike as well. They have been slightly improved, but, just like the maps, are not enough to really make a difference.

Jeez, so what has Condition Zero done that is worth mentioning as being credible? Well, for starters, it has incorporated a new bot system.

Something New: Bot System

If you are not connected to the internet and would like to simulate a multiplayer game, start a new game offline and just play with bots. The AI is relatively good… if you play with them enough you will start to catch on to their tactics, but until then, it can be a tough fight.

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

If you are hosting your own server and you just want to play on a team with your friends, bots are a great option to choose. Get five of your friends, go to the CT team, and then load five bots and put them on the terrorist team. Get ready for some bot action!

Aside from the new bot mode, Condition Zero has really outdone itself and included a single player mode! And just like the rest of the “new and improved” parts of Condition Zero, I bet you can guess how good single player mode is going to be!
