If you enjoyed the second Hitman as much as I did, I am sure you were waiting for a third dosage of Codename 47 goodness. Despite its quirks and somewhat annoying issues, Hitman 2 was a really fun game to play. After completing Hitman 2, I was upset that there was no more I could do to lengthen my experience. Sure, I could play the whole game over again... but there was nothing significantly unique, especially because of the lack of multiplayer. To my delight, Eidos has launched the third game in its Hitman series; the newest addition to the saga of the Codename 47 story.
Hitman: Contacts puts you back in the deadly persona of Codename 47, as he takes down anybody he's instructed to. Diana from the agency will still be there to give you all the mission briefings you need along with your objectives. It is then up to you to decide how you would like to approach your mission goals. You can go in as a silent assassin or as a deranged killing machine. This open-endness is what made the first two Hitman games so fun. If you choose to be a silent assassin, you will be awarded a higher rating for each mission, but killing anything that moves is just as fun. My strategy is to play some missions silent and some as a madman. That way you can experience both the swift and the maniac sides of 47.
The first missions will give you a flashback to the original Hitman game, your last hit job in a mental institute. Now you get to replay the entire mission, with striking graphics and smeared blood times two.
Starting off with this mission may leave newbs a bit confused, as there is no actual explanation as to why there are tons of guys looking exactly like you lying around dead in a mental hospital… and why you are even in the mental hospital for that matter… well let's just say it's a bit vague. Past that mission, the rest of your gameplay experiences will be topped with our favorite mission briefing screen as well as the beautiful narration of every word by our friend Diana. This way, you will know exactly who you have to kill, who has hired you, and a general overview of the mission.
Contracts will take you to a myriad of different locations, all of which are incredibly unique and detailed. Half of them were unimaginable to me for being put into Hitman 2. Like a rich and fancy mansion, complete with British guards and dogs ready to kill you. Or even going into a party at a Butcher factory… I know you can't really imagine that, but trust me, it's insane. The environments available to you in Contracts are a HUGE plus… each time you play, the experience is different.
