Limits on Building
One thing I didn't like about the building aspect of the game was that there was a limit to the number of particular things you can build. Having this sets back the style of your community; if you want to have a playground on every single trailer, you won't be able to because you will have a limit of 4 to the amount of playgrounds you can build.
So fine, you can deal with a limit on the amount of ornaments you can build… But can you do the same with trailers?! That's right… there are limits to the amount of trailers you can build that are of the same type!!! In one game, I had to get an overall town rating of 650 trashy. I ended up building all of the trailers there was to offer, and all of the ornaments that had any rating of trashy. I didn't nearly have enough trashy rating, so I had to upgrade all of my basic trailers, and got to a rating of 652. But really, wouldn't it have been better if I could've built more trailers to raise my population, get more money, and built new ornaments? Yes, it would have.
Build Trailers in Different Settings!
There are different area settings that missions feature.
Some are urban dumps, swampy places, or Wild Wild West settings. Overall, all of the maps are basically the same. They have their welcome signs, a little background props to enhance the setting, and plots of ground marked off for trailers and amenities.
Tycoon Mood is Not Great
Tycoon mode is one of the game types you can play. I didn't really see what was so different about this mode from the other modes. All you had to do was try and make some odd amount of money in an amount of weeks. The only thing that changed was the map, the amount of money you had to make, and the amount of weeks you had to do it in. Fun times.
Overall
I must say however, that through and through, the whole idea of Trailer Park Tycoon is really pretty great. Every aspect of the game centers on the whole hillbilly trailer park living idea. The ornaments are unique, the side comments about residents are funny, trailers are imaginative, and amenities are interesting. This RTS is not bad; it just lacks a few things that could've made it a lot better. If you are just in to buy this game for a couple of laughs and good times, you will like it.
